Becky Sharp review
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 01/13/12

Becky Sharp (Miriam Hopkins), a go-getting lower class English young lady who strategizes ways to climb the social ladder. Sharp gets acquainted with Marquis of Steyne (Cedric Hardwicke), Joseph Sedley (Nigel Bruce), Rawdon Crawley (Alan Mowbray), and George Osborne (G. P. Huntley Jr) just to survive. Score was decent and set pieces and costumes elegant. It had a few comical moments but the brilliance of Miriam Hopkins was evident. She really portrayed the shrewd and ruthless Becky Sharp, a film whose quality is dated but its themes of survival, callousness and cleverness reigns on screen.
