Goldfinger review

Bond meets Goldfinger’s assistant, Jill Masterson, was killed and covered in gold paint. The representatives of Bank of England disclose how Goldfinger has been smuggling gold. James Bond meets Goldfinger for a golf game, and follows him to Switzerland and meets Tilly. He discovers Goldfinger engaging a conversation with Mr. Ling about "Operation Grand Slam". Tilly tries to avenge her sister’s death but is seen by Bond and both are eventually captured by Oddjob. Goldfinger's private jet flown by his personal pilot Pussy Galore and lands in Kentucky. Goldfinger divulges Operation Grand Slam where a bank he has in Fort Knox to Mafioso’s that has a bank worth $15 million dollars. Goldfinger informs Bond of his real plans for the gold reserves.

Ludicrous scenes noticeable were the obvious blue screen in the opening pool/car chase scenes; Oddjob destroys a golf ball with his bare hands and his hat knocks off Tilly (where a previous scene the statues head was cut off with it). This particular Bond picture has the best soundtrack and wittiness in this reviewer’s opinion. It shows a more mortal James Bond being beaten up by Oddjob and sweating during a bomb countdown. The antagonists were meaner and evil this time around. The plot, screenplay and pace of the story were engaging from start to finish which became the precursor for the next Bond flicks. Lines like “A martini. Shaken, not stirred.” Goldfinger – “Man has climbed Mount Everest. Gone to the bottom of the ocean. He has fired rockets at the Moon. Split the atom. Achieved miracles in every field of human endeavour... except crime!” Goldfinger is memorable despite some minor errors; its impact is monumental from the car gadgets, casting, dialogue, pacing, and capturing the coolness of James Bond which was perfectly exemplified by Sean Connery.
