Has one of the best antagonists onscreen. A team called The Basterds hunt down Nazi's who are tasked to eliminate Jews. SD Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz) is definitely a genius in interrogations. 1st Special Service Force First Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) was able to recruit 8 Jewish American soldiers to be in his team. The script was clever and the cinematography and camera angles were impressive. So many tragic scenes and yet the humor never dwindled. Shades of Reservoir Dogs was present in the bar scene with the “Mexican standoff” which involves Lieutenant Archie Hicox (Michael Fassbender) the Basterds and German film actress and British spy, Bridget von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger). The downfall of Hitler and the German's consist of a movie theater, a couple of Basterds and nitrate film.

A personal favorite performance of mine from Chrstoph Waltz was when he spoke 3 dialects to make the Basterds look stupid. His sensational performance which in my opinion really carried the film because of his acting prowess. Some memorable lines – Lt. Aldo – “You probably heard we ain't in the prisoner-takin' business; we in the killin' Nazi business. And cousin, business is a-boomin.” Col. Hans Landa – “I love rumors! Facts can be so misleading, but rumors, true or false, are often revealing.” I felt some scenes were too long, which later in the end wasn’t really that valuable to the story such as the long conversations of Cinema proprietor (Laurent) and the German star of the film. There were iffy scenes when it tried too hard to be comedic. The violence and action is nothing new since we all know the reputation of the director, the cast did a good job as well. Overall, this fantasy with fictional dual stories entertained. Just like the carved swastikas made by Aldo Raine, the film makes it mark, but still not Tarantino’s best.
