The Towering Inferno

Disaster movie with great cast but poor script

I really did not much care for this film, I really find it annoying that this cast could not have been in a better film. It is a standard disaster movie just more fire more explosions and people trying to survive in different situations. The outside characters have little to say that is interesting in depth and when important characters die they die in strange ways that I almost missed them dying since it was nonchalant. It looks dated very pure seventies, and is interesting to see Paul Newman and Steve McQueen together but that is not enough. If you like these movies you might like I don't.

Oscar nomination Fred Astaire 3/5 Best Supporting actor- Fred Astaire is good in this. One of the few characters you really get to know at along with Jennifer Jones. He does rise above the material and his scenes were nice to see but he is not in it enough to be more than nomination worthy.
