Enchanted

Fun to Watch, Witty

I was enchanted by this film in so many levels because it exceeded my expectations. I thought I was in for a good fairy tale movie but I never thought it would be as bona fide, energetic, and imaginative as this one. Not only does it work as a fantasy-comedy, it also works as a satire of classic Disney animated films. It seems like everyone is having fun in their roles, which makes it that much more enjoyable because they are able to wink at the camera without ever looking stupid. Amy Adams is born for this role and I knew she was destined to be great ever since I saw her touching performance in "Junebug." I haven't seen her in many films because she's just starting to branch out but she proves to be a versatile actress. I also enjoyed Susan Sarandon's brief but villainous performance, as well as the two prince charmings played by Patrick Dempsey and James Marsden. Even the co-stars like Timothy Spall was enjoyable even though I've seen him act the same in the "Harry Potter" series and "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street." Heck, even the chipmunk was interesting! This film hit every note just right. Sure, the middle kind of dragged but it's more than forgivable due to its eagerness to be light and fun and nothing more, but ends up being quite witty. "Enchanted" made me want to burst out into a song half-way through and there are more than a handful of laugh-out-loud moments. This is one of the best feel-good films of 2007.
