An abomination when compared to the video game. The filmmakers inexplicably abandon the creepy shadowy mansion setting of the game (which, I might add is possibly one of the scariest video games ever created) for a laboratory and then populate the remainder with scene after scene of pointless action and gore, combined with obtuse characters. Could have been so scary if done right, but, instead, it's just one gunshot and explosion after another.
