Rated PG – scary images, some violence, language, mild sensuality
Starring Daniel Radcliffe, Michael Gambon, Helena Bonham Carter, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint
Dir by David Yates (who directed The Order of the Phoenix and is currently directing the next two potter films…I said the next two basically because it’s easier to put Brad’s Mom on a diet than to squeeze a 3 pound book into a 2 hour movie

After a year and a half wait, Harry Potter fans in sold out theaters everywhere eagerly welcomed back the “Chosen One” and his magical crew in this legendary saga about good vs. evil.
I am personally glad that I had a nice tub of buttery-salted popcorn riding shotgun during this one ‘cuz trying to digest this excruciatingly long HP flick on an empty stomach would have been a wee bit unbearable. I’m not trying to be harsh, but I walked out of the theater, and someone mentioned that my clothes were back in style – I get home and all the sudden I got grandkids. Was I in there that long?
The movie kicks off with a pretty engaging opening and begs the question, “How would the muggle world, who may not believe in a spiritual realm, react when pure evil rears its ugly head?
The children of wizardry have certainly grown into fine young actors and actresses over the past 8yrs. While there is good character development and an above average plot line for a popcorn movie, the director seems to have lost the well-recognized, crucial balance between the energetically-anxious, near death scenes and the in depth storyline.
There are some very erie scenes including one with images resembling The Lord of the Ring’s – Gullum as well as some spell casting mayhem which may be too frightening for kids under 12. Other scenes just left me wondering if I had missed anything after I awoke from my nap………………”I love Naptime”
As the story goes, Harry and the gang are teenagers now; the twins run a magic store, Harry has his female interests, and Hermione (Her-my-o-knee) is in love. It’s their 6th year at Hogwarts which brings about a new professor and some new students.
A textbook finds its way into the hands of Potter either by accident or design which launches them into the path of detrimental situations and an education into the origins of a familiar face. Check out this clip…
The Bible is pretty clear in the book of Deuteronomy 18 about people who practice sorcery and conjure spells, in short – God doesn’t like it.
There is certainly an evil element portrayed in this movie. The question you gotta’ ask yourself is, “Can I deal with it? And how will this affect me?”
Should you go to a séance, play a few rounds on the ouija board, and then dance in a circle around a steaming cauldron cutting yourselves and repeating incantations in mantra form? Not unless they are serving Black forrest gummy Bears!
But, seriously…as far as watching a product of Hollywood with incredible special effects and music which was based on a set of books written by an out of work mother which was originally designed to engage more and more kids into reading…well? That’s gonna’ have to be a personal conviction between you and God, but…that’s just my humble opinion.
