Ace Ventura (Jim Carrey) is back, and this time he’s trying to help an African tribe find their missing sacred bat. If only Ace wasn’t scared to death of the flying rodents. It’s another zany adventure in “Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls.”

Seen “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective?” If you have, then you’ve seen half of its sequel. A lot of the jokes are just taken from the first, but for some reason they’re still just as funny. There’s also a lot of new, hilarious material that’s at times even better than in the first. Unfortunately, the movie was written and directed by Steve Oedekerk, which explains the completely unreal feel to the movie, as opposed to the original’s real quality. It’s a problem because in a world that’s crazy, Ace doesn’t seem like much. Luckily, he really overshadows the rest of the world’s insanity.

Music, editing, acting, and writing all suffered from being rushed to theaters a year after its predecessor, even with the threefold budget increase, which most likely went to both the actors and the scenery change. Regardless, the film is still just as funny, if not funnier than the first. Even so, you can never replace the original.

Acting: 6/10

Audio/Music: 7/10

Final Score: 7.2/10
