MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3-D remakes the 1981 Canadian slasher film of the same name. It's the first R-Rated film to be projected in Real D technology. It's also available in 2D for theaters that are not equipped to process new digital 3D technology.

The movie is about psychopathic miner that terrorizes the town of Harmony. 10-years ago, the lone survivor of an accident deep in the mines awoke from a coma and slashed his way through the town in a bloody, vengeance-fueled rampage. Though shot and apparently killed, the memories of Harry Warden still haunt both the town and Tom Hanniger (Jenes Akens), the heir to the mine and one of the last people to see Harry before his disappearance. Ten years later, on the anniversary of the slaughter Tom returns to town to take ownership of his family's mine. While he mends his torn relationship with his ex-girlfriend Sarah (Jamie King) and her husband Axl (Kerr Smith). Almost as soon as Tom arrives in town the killings ramp up again as someone in a gas mask and mining uniform recommences pick-axing townspeople one by one in spectacularly gruesome fashion (all presented in 3-D)and ripping out their hearts to make grotesque Valentines.

First, this film looks gorgeous. The 3D is so effective and the colors and camera shots are crisp and life-like. The setting is perfect and very reminiscent of the town from the original. The acting is decent from all involved and the script and dialogue are not bad either. My Bloody Valentine delivers exactly what your for if you see this movie: plenty of gore in the tradition of 70s/80s slasher pics. The gore effects are brought to us in glorious 3D, which makes it all that more great. They use all the old slasher plot devices and characters to tell the story.

"My Bloody Valentine 3D" is not a straight remake as much as it is a "reimagining." We get the same basic premise--a killer in a miner's outfit killing off people during the Valentine holiday--and even get the same character's, but a lot is switched up here. Still the changes do not ruin the concept of the original. With everything said; if you like a cool slasher film and fun, check this film out in 3D. You will definitely be glad you did.
