Stuck in a Cube

Cube is unlike anything I've witnessed in all my years of film viewing. The psychological trauma and uncertainty with one another that the characters face is unnerving.

What was very interesting about the film was it's originality with character obstacles. Navigating a cube maze full of numbered rooms rigged with traps is super enticing. It was like watching a reality/game show in the form of a science fiction-psychological horror thriller. The characters were extremely dynamic and comprised their own stories on why they ended up in the cube as well as possessing their own unique set of skills. However, the characters did also have some predictability. Quentin's tough bossy attitude was not surprising and his transition to controlling the others suited his character psychosis. Leaven was a typical nerd low self-esteem character, and Worth was a man of mystery who created the exterior of the cube. Once this plot twist revealed itself, I knew Worth would not make it out of the cube alive since I have become used to that kind of character formula in other science fiction and horror films.

With that being said, I do believe that Cube is a very unique film, and deserves credit for its artistry. It is nothing like you would see in a normal viewing experience, with a lot of interesting plot twists to keep the story driving forward and fresh in the audience's eyes to maintain interest.

I definitely would recommend this film to anyone who is an expert or new fan to the science fiction and psychological horror genre. Everyone should at least give Cube one try before saying otherwise.

This film was one of the most interesting new film experiences I have been a part of for a long time.
