Gripping dramatization of the radical abolitionist John Brown's raid on Harper's Ferry. More even-handed than expected given the era this was released. Raymond Massey portrays Brown as a well meaning but deeply flawed man shaped by the political turmoil faced by Americans before the Civil War broke out.
