Obscure romantic drama of a couple with different dreams beyond their small town. That is pretty much the A-plot of the movie and it's fairly predictable. You know they are going to get together. The b-story with Dianne Wiest though...is utterly bonkers and tragic. It has enough material for its own movie. It makes the movie genuinely suspenseful in parts. Cliff DeYoung is in excellent form as a slimeball wife-beating husband.
