This mystery-drama does move at a slow pace but the acting keeps it interesting. Ian McKellen is great as usual. Gemma Arterton is allowed to act instead of perform action or stunts. Even Mark Strong (known for playing villains) is playing a more complex-than-normal role. The period setting looks nice and there are some decent twists.
