Silent Night, Deadly Night

Extremely controversial during its original release, this holiday themed slasher will probably extinguish any younger viewers' innocence in regards to Santa Claus. Or maybe Christmas in general. The first act is actually pretty interesting if exploitative as we see young Billy Chapman witness his parents' murder and his psychological torment at the hands of a cruel orphanage.
But the second half of the movie is scattershot after the buildup. It is a short movie so they probably were more focused on the gore and bloodshed. Both of which is aplenty once Billy goes nuts. Gilmer McCormick is the closest to a decent human being in the supporting cast as a nun sympathetic to Billy's initial plight. Before the murder spree anyway.
