Katyn ( Post mortem. Opowiesc katynska )

A grim and sometimes frightening reenactment of the historic Katyn massacre that occurred in Poland at the beginning of WW2 which saw tens of thousands of Polish military officers and intelligentsia murdered by occupying Soviet forces. It demonstrated how the Poles suffered at not only the hands of Nazis but also (and sometimes more so) by the Soviets when Stalin was briefly aligned with Hitler and later after the end of the war, they still had to live under Soviet influence. This is a bleak and gloomy film to watch but it does have a morbidly fascinating story to tell with good performances and solid direction.
