Frenzy

Thanks to the R-rating (a first for Hitchcock), his 1972 thriller Frenzy is a gleefully demented return to classic Hitchcock, with ya know, serial killers. Barry Foster gives a cheerfully creepy performance as the eponymous murderer that the press named the Necktie strangler. Jon Finch is his unwitting fall guy and he's an interesting character because he's really not that likeable. The rape/murder scenes are really quite shocking and are hard to watch even by 2014. The film remains entertaining thanks to its very macabre sense of humor and the constant complications that keep occurring to keep the audience yearning to find out how it ends.
