American Wedding

Needed more laughs to stand on its own.

"Jim" (Jason Biggs) and the love of his life "Michelle" (Alyson Hannigan) are getting married, and some of the wacky cast from the previous "American Pie" movies are invited, except for "Stifler" (Seann William Scott).

This movie has the fewest funny scenes I have seen, and the most are near the start of the film. And those are only good enough for an out-loud chuckle at best.

The cast is quite comfortable, and work pretty well together. I never saw the other movies, so the characters didn't seem developed that well to me. I suggest you watch the first two movies to familiarize yourself the cast of characters.

The cast performances were fine, except Scott, who seemed pretty stiff and uncomfortable. I do believe that's the character however, but since I never saw the first movies in the series I don't know.

Biggs and Harrigan appeared to have the best chemistry and got some of the better laughs -- especially Harrigan. The others had a few laughs themselves.

The visuals were fair, nothing really spectacular. There were no special effects, mainly because they weren't required.

Again, if you haven't seen the first two movies, I suggest you skip this one. It might have been because I haven't seen the other movies that I didn't enjoy it. Or possibly it just didn't have enough laughs to make it a good comedy.
