Midnight Run

A blast from the good old 80’s!

A bail-bondsman Eddie (Joe Pantiolani) hires a bounty hunter, Jack Walsh (Robert De Niro) to bring in an accountant Eddie had foolishly paid the bond for. The accountant, Jonathon “The Duke” Mardukas (Charles Grodin) is on the run from both the cops and the mob, having embezzled millions of dollars from a Mafia mobster Jimmy Serano (Dennis Farina). After he gave most of it to charity (and some to himself) he was caught, and then skipped out on his bail. Jack now has to bring him back, and he has a week to do it in.If Walsh fails to bring Jonathan in within a few days, Eddie will be out of business. Sensing the moment, Walsh demands $100,000 for his troubles and Eddie reluctantly agrees but loses his patience with Walsh and brings in another bounty hunter Marvin (A very funny John Ashton) who wants a piece of the action too. As for Grodin, he was born to play the role of the uptight accountant. He never stops badgering Jack about his past, and what makes it so entertaining is the ambiguity to it all. You are constantly wondering if it is genuine concern or just another one in a long line of escape attempts by the Duke.

A great buddy flick and Grodin's deadpan and matter-of-fact humor compliment De Niro's hot-headed, sarcastic witty humor perfectly.
