In Russia cars drive you! This isn't the best horror movie ever made but it isn't a horrible movie. It's kind of confusing which is actually kind of a good thing. The movie keeps you guessing and wondering what in the hell is going on. There are some scenes that could probably have been cut out of the movie and it would have been just fine and the acting could have been better but overall it is a decent movie and if you can see it for free or for a low price its probably worth checking out.

Discovered through the 8 films to Die For Series, this is a decent horror film. It starts off strong, and even though it loses steam along the way, it has a good story and with an unknown lead, a fresh feel. Nice movie for a dark night.

This film had promise but after thirty minutes into it, it started to go downhill fast. Although there were nice twists here and there, they weren't enough to save the film's lack of character development and tedious storytelling. An hour into the movie, I just wanted it all to end. I have a penchant for films that strive to be different, but this one failed to stand out to things that have been done before. I recommend "The Descent" instead.

The Abandoned is an admittedly stylish piece of work that's ultimately undone by slow pacing and increasingly confusing screenplay. Anastasia Hille stars as Marie, a Russian woman who embarks on a trip to the desolate countryside in an effort to uncover the true identity of her birth parents, as of course things go horribly wrong. One of the few positive qualities of The Abandoned is the creepy, atmospheric vibe you get while watching it. It's the forcefulness of style over substance that becomes more and more difficult to overcome as the movie progresses.
We the viewers are expected to care about Marie's unfortunate situation, but the movie fails to offer up a single reason to do so. As a consequence there is nothing propelling the film forward, particularly in the film's first half …
