Plot: Brian de Palma's wild "rock opera" (with songs by Paul Williams) combining elements of "The Phantom of the Opera" with "Faust" and satirical attacks on the glam rock era. Struggling songwriter Winslow Leach (William Finley) is plagiarized by producer-tycoon Swann (Williams), and survives an attempted murder in order to seek revenge as a phantom stalking Swann's rock palace -- the Paradise.
