What's Good Enough for You Is Good Enough for Me!

After the recent 25th Anniversary and cast reunion, rumors once again surfaced that a supposed Goonies sequel is still in the works. Despite having a huge nostalgic fan base (myself included) and even the support of the original cast - including Sean Astin and Corey Feldman - this mythical sequel remains elusive. Even Josh Brolin knows the script is out there, though he remain skeptical anything will be done about it.

What is it about The Goonies that makes it so memorable? Something about getting the right group of kids, the adventure, the dichotomy of Sloth and even the bad guys ( lead by the late, great Anne Ramsey) - somehow all came to together to form a most perfect family film. In fact, other than The Princess Bride (another childhood favorite) I can't think of another film that fits on the same level.

Sure, I'm a huge fan of Star Wars, but nothing brings back that sense of childhood wonder quite like The Goonies. So what's the the holdup here? A sequel, a remake - give the fans something or heck, even a special edition Blu-Ray with the deleted scenes (yes, that octopus did exist!). My childhood is gone, but maybe a little of the magic can come back again.

I think we may be past the time of sequels, but a remake could be possible. I don't know if the innocence of that film would still fly with the modern audience . . .
