I know that award seasons can be competitive and snubs are inevitable, but Daniel Craig was overlooked for his outstanding performance in Queer. People have said it goes off the rails, becoming crazy and trippy towards the end, as if the movie wasn't already like that.

Luca Guadanino's "Queer" is comprised of two chapters I adored, one I thought was disappointing, and an epilogue that left me entirely unimpressed. The first two are good stuff; a prickly romance exploring desire, alienation, addiction, and 20th-century decay. But the third is an oddity as disconnected from the others as Daniel Craig's character is from everyone around him, and the ending is a little too surreal and artsy for my liking. Still, it's for the most part compelling, beautifully shot, and Craig gives it his all in what is now one of his new best.
