While Ti West did good with X, Pearl is even better with Mia Goth giving a top-notch performance as the small-town girl with big dreams, stifling parents and some very disturbing issues. And like Midsommar, the film is often bright and colorful - while a that sinister feeling is just below the surface. Tandi Wright also stands out as Pearl's strict mother. And you can't forget those end credits - put on a happy face indeed.

A vastly superior followup to Ti West’s sleeper hit ‘X’. Mia Goth is wonderful. The mood is creepy and suspenseful. For such a dark story, I am pleased that the production design is actually quite colorful and the cinematography is gorgeous. And when things have to get gory, it doesn’t disappoint.

Lizzie Borden at "Little House on the Prairie," Ti West's prequel to his retro horror flick "X" is equally as unsettling due largely to phenomenal performances from Mia Goth and Tandi Wright.
