There's a lot to appreciate in Antlers with its moody and unforgiving atmosphere. The kill scenes are brutal and look painful. Although, I thought the themes of abuse and character moments were underdeveloped. Kerri Russel and Jesse Plemons were both decently cast.

Far too tropey and been-there-done-that even if Keri Russell is really willing this to work. The creature effects are actually well done but the story is lackluster and characters are woefully thin on development. I've seen much better but also much worse - maybe worth it for a quick horror fix, but don't make it a priority.

The effective first half is undone by its trite second. "Antlers" falls victim to plot holes and inconsistencies as it attempts to emulate superior modern horror films.

Keri Russell plays her role in the film about wendigos with deathly earnestness. I don't entirely know why. Scott Cooper is directing an early 2010s thriller here, so maybe that's why. A functional, respectable film. I'll never watch it again.
