The bland humor often works well with dark comedy and somehow Jesse Eisenberg made the film even better. I struggled a bit with the story line: The hook isn't as interesting and viewers had to wait for almost an hour for the first turning point, after that, things still went very slowly. But I appreciate how it tries to portray sexism and toxic masculinity.

I was a bit taken aback at what it turns into, but "The Art of Self-Defense" is a very funny and dark film about feelings of vulnerability and what to do about them.
