When it comes to war movies this one is one of the best, its based on the true events of the vietnam war and the fight for what the soliders named hamburger hill ( because it chews them up like hamburgers). The battle for hamburger hill became legendary for its little stragetic importance and the lives that were lost to gain control of it. only to then abanden it. which shows the utter pointlessness of war and some of the decisions made in conflict. it was mean and long bloody battle that served little purpous. Its a a very well made and well acted movie with plenty of blood guts and also has a fine soundtrack. a underated movie for sure..

Just an unflinching, brutal war film that doesn't sugarcoat anything. Not since the opening scene of Saving Private Ryan has war seemed so real - it's a downer, but important. This is how it was, and how it still is - war is hell.
