Terribly exaggerated but extremely entertaining

I’m not working with this guy.
I’ve been there, done that.
The minute he gets involved, you can kiss goodbye to any finesse
because She-Hulk here only knows how to smash.
Yeah, Mr. Arson here only knows how to blow shit up.

When I was at the cinema with my family and close friends (with little kids in our company) and had to choose between “The Lion King” and “Hobbs & Shaw“, I was facing a dilemma. On the one hand, you have the live-action remake of a Disney classic with a story I know thoroughly (Not difficult when you have children and you’ve already seen the original cartoon a trillion times) but one I still love to see. On the other hand, you have an action movie with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. And apparently, it has something to do with the “Fast & …

Stuck Between The Rock and a Hardcase

It was inevitable that we could get a Fast and Furious spinoff at some point - especially once the action started turning from "awesome car races" to "physically impossible insanity" which pretty much has lasted for the last three films. In fact, I'm surprised it took this long. Even though it caused some animosity among the "family" Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham make a damn good dynamic duo, and have great on-screen chemistry. The film is as ridiculous as you would expect, but it's the perfect way to cap off a summer.

The premise is this: Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby), MI-6 agent and sister to known criminal Deckard Shaw (Statham) is tracking down a dangerous biological agent with her team. This agent, code-named Snowflake, has the ability to liquefy …

Hobbs & Shaw - Review

'Hobbs & Shaw' is literally 2 hours of people dissing each other and it isn't just from Dwayne and Statham.

It's a dumb movie, but at this point we should just expect that with these movies. Judging it on a entertainment standpoint, it succeeds on that. I was never bored watching it, which is the best compliment I can give.

Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham both have such great chemistry and comedic timing, the movie wouldn't stand without them, of course.

I liked Idris Elba as the main baddie who has a past vendetta to crack. While not one of his best performance, yet still manages to bring a physical presence to the screen. Vanessa Kirby was a standout as she's fully aware how ridiculous it all is, but plays along anyway.

There's a few surprises along the way that actually …

The Rock & Transporter vs Black Superman? I'm in!

The first spin-off in the Fast and Furious movies is a total blast. Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham are enormously entertaining playing off one another. Add Idris Elba as a cyborg terrorist (yes you read correctly) and Vanessa Kirby as a sexy spy and viewers are in for one wild adrenaline rush of a blockbuster.
Directed by David Leitch, one of the John Wick directors, the action scenes and spectacle is top notch and creative. Despite clocking at over two hours, the film is fast paced and the cast is a lot of fun. The plot borrows liberally from the James Bond/Ethan Hunt playbook except trading those characters for two of the most charismatic action stars working today. It's preposterous and stupid but who cares? It's exciting and fun.
Those looking for an expertly handled exercise …
