Exactly the kind of movie you'd expect from its director and stars, "The Post" is a relevant, true story journalism drama.

The pacing is bit rough at times, but the story is clearly meant to reflect how the story of the Pentagon Papers, and the newspapers involved with it, are a direct parallel to what is happening today with the phrase "fake news" being thrown around like so much confetti. It's a powerful, important story - one that is too often bogged down for its own good - but the cast is there, Spielberg is there - might as well experience it... while you can.

Steven Spielberg is my favorite director. But he was clearly on auto-pilot with this blantant example of Oscar-bait. Granted, given that it is a Spielberg movie, it's well made and the acting isn't bad. It's too bad the plot is predictable and hackneyed with its 'freedom of the press' message. Timely? Yes but without genuine passion outside of Oscar buzz, it is quite tiresome after a while. Still, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep together is its best asset and that part never gets old.

Good material and well execution. I knew what was about to happen (the ending) but the direction and performances were brilliant that the thrill and suspense were still felt. Freedom of the press is a good subject of debate nowadays making this film so relevant. Lastly, I like the feminist undertone of the script!
