Well-crafted and fear-inducing, "A Quiet Place" gives us plenty to be afraid of.

A Quiet Place is as suspenseful, involving, and genuinely moving as you would hope, with incredible performances across the board and an ending that leaves you begging for more. Logical hiccups aside, which unfortunately are difficult for me to overlook, A Quiet Place successfully scares and thrills through a solid chunk of its run-time. It's an exercise in suspense done well by John Krasinski.

An excellent high concept nail-biter about an alien invasion that doesn't rely on explosions and annoying characters. It's built entirely on the refreshing premise that less sound is better for your survival. John Krasinki's directorial debut is quite impressive on genre thrills and building unrelenting tension. At a brisk 90 minutes, it's a tidy suspenseful sit.

One of the better original horror films to come out this year - and one of the better in recent memory. It helps that John Krasinski is paired with his real-life wife Emily Blunt (and is also handy behind the camera. Plus casting an actual deaf actress (Millicent Simmonds) as the daughter was a brilliant choice. You never know how much sound matters until most of it is removed - it makes for a very tense experience, and the creature design is excellent as well. Overall, if you are a fan of the horror genre, put this on your list.
