Thanks largely in part by sharp and funny dialogue, this follow-up successor film to "Dazed and Confused" succeeds in similar ways.

While it's hard to compete with Dazed and Confused, Richard Linklater manages to come damn close with Everybody Wants Some!! Essentially it's a movie about a bunch of guys (in this case the college baseball team) hanging out, trading barbs, partying, hooking up and occasionally trying to decide where their lives are going. It sounds shallow, but is anything but. Add in a killer soundtrack and Linklater's excellent dialogue and this is a worthy follow-up and, more important, just a great all-around film.

If there is any justice in this universe, all the actors in this movie will go on to long stable careers in Hollywood. Richard Linklater delivers another strong ensemble comedy with an excellent cast and sound comic timing working in sync with each other. Most notable about EVERYBODY WANTS SOME is the lack of conflict in the film which is refreshing from all these tired cliched teen movies that try to manufacture a sudden problem or adversary that needs to be overcome. Not with this picture. It's just a bunch of college boys having a good time and trying to pick up the right girl if possible. One of the best movies of the year thus far!
