As far as indie horror goes - this is one of the better (and more twisted) offerings out there. The Soska sisters (Jen and Sylvia) have gained cult status thanks to their low-budget Dead Hooker in a Trunk - and if they continue to hone their talents, I think they can bring something special to the horror genre. Extreme body modification is already strange - but making a horror film revolve around it is pretty brilliant. I can't wait to see what they do next.

'American Mary' defies genre classification by being odd and unpredictable. There's no real plot, just an evolution of this main character into an unconventional brilliant surgeon. Though, there's not much evolving besides her flipping to the other side of the coin after a terrible incident. After the first act, it mostly becomes a collection of bizarre surgeries and scenes that don't add up to anything later. Starts off strong, but fizzles out till the lackluster finale.
