Gritty, disturbing and ultimately powerful revenge thriller that also conveys a pitch black sense of humour. A raw and uncompromising slasher movie with highly intellectual overtones that has realistic characters, plausible dialogue and a thoughtful moralistic tone on the themes of retribution and exploitation. A truly astonishing turn by Paddy Considine helps to cement the reputation of Director Shane Meadows as one of the best in the business.
