John Carpenter, am begging you, please do not let this be your "final" movie. End with a bang, not a whimper. 'The Ward' is by far Carpenters worst movie. It's a generic horror thriller that lacks any suspense or atmosphere. Instead the move relays way too much on jump scares to the point it became irritating to watch. It also doesn't help that the twist-ending is just the worst. Some of the performances were pretty decent; the standout being Jared Harris who is at least trying, bless his heart. However the other performances were pretty terrible; the standout being Amber Turd. Overall rating: The one star is for Jared Harris.

This picture reminded me of Girl Interrupted but in a horror version. Well acted but the characters were not that interesting since it lacked character development. Purpose of the killings, history of the institution and some dragging scenes were evident. Had some nice camera angles to build-up the ghost, but yet nothing too enthralling. The Ward is not one of the good films in its genre, but it may scare you because of the decent direction.

I've seen this before, and seen it done better - I'll stick with Identity as I could predict the outcome easily and the only scares to be had were of the "jump out at you" variety - the story was not a draw. Even the asylum setting just wasn't creepy enough for me.

Has some of the right stuff, but it's too much of a mixed bag. Parts of the plot feel similar to Shutter Island, especially the ending revelation. Not Carpenter's best, or worst.

Two stars because I liked the acting and it was kind of addicting to keep watching this movie to the end--however, it was mostly ruined by a very cliche and easily predicted ending, along with the movie seeming to be a little.."draggy" at times. Although I wanted to know what's going on and wanted to keep watching the characters, there were some dull moments where I found myself playing with my hair and not paying as much attention.
