Our Daily Free Stream: Woody Allen - Husbands And Wives. Die Eröffnungs-Sequenz von Woody Allens Husbands and Wives - ein langer, ununterbrochener Shot, ganz so als befänden wir uns in einer Doku. Die Kamera stolpert hin und her, führt uns nervös zuckend durch den Raum in dem zwei lange verheiratete Paare zusammen sitzen. Das eine Ehepaar erklärt dem anderen, dass sie sich scheiden lassen wollen. Man hätte dieses Gespräch auch mit einem Stativ filmen können, doch offensichtlich wollte Woody Allen etwas anderes erreichen. Er wollte eine gehetzte, verrückte Kamera, die genauso durcheinander ist wie die Charaktere in Husbands And Wives. Sydney Pollack (ja, der Regisseur!) und Judy Davis spielen das Paar, welches die Scheidung einreicht. Ganz entspannt und vernünftig. Die …

"Maybe in the end, the idea was not to expect too much out of life." - Gabe. Smart script, poorly executed film with a popular theme of marriage and infidelities. A story of two couples namely Jack (Pollack) and Sally (Davis), and Gabe (Allen) and Judy (Farrow). Soundtrack almost non existent, the documentary style of shooting was dizzying when doing close-ups and acting just felt rehearsed. Its only good point was the screenplay with lines: Judy - "Change is what life is made of! Change - if you don't change, you don't grow, you just shrivel up!" Sally - "You're great 'til you start to show your age - then they want a newer model." Husbands and Wives seems to intellectual and scripted to be entertaining and realistic. It doesn't show whether its a documentary, drama or comedy, …
