John Garfield is good as the villain but the movie is sort of repetitive as film noirs go. He shows up to threaten people or get out of trouble. Repeat that five more times for an hour and a half. Plus Ida Lupino's character really comes off as a stubborn fool rather than naive or innocent.

This ridiculous drama about gangsters terrozing a Brooklyn family is brought down by the awful supporting performances of John Qualen and Thomas Mitchell. An undeniable borefest with wretched dialogue and very little imagination. Final Grade: D-
