Being one of my "giants of cinema" and officially one of the best directors in movie history, Ingmar Bergman created in 1966 what ended up being his most deep and complex movie he would ever dare to create. It is not only his most controversial masterpiece, but it is also the most notorious influence within the genre of psychological thrillers (and probably horror as well) for directors such as Takashi Miike, David Cronenberg and David Lynch. Persona is more than just a simple drama; it is one of the most fascinating psychological studies that worldwide classic cinema could ever offer to mankind.

Persona review

Artistic, brilliant, absorbing, perfection and thought-provoking. A nurse named sister Alma (Bibi Andersson) is tasked to look over Elisabet Volger (Liv Ullmann), a theater artist. Both live together and Alma tells the story of Katarina, her relationships, becoming Elisabet. Who owns the child? Whose persona is real? One of those types of films in which it would make you think and react, much like Cronenberg and Lynch movies. Screenplay was exceptional; (and personally one of the best onscreen) with the following lines: Alma – “I think art plays a role in life.” Volger’s Doctor – “Life seeps in everything.
