This unexpectedly unbelievable original gorgeous film would have not been effective if it weren't for the brilliant acting of Joaquin Phoenix, the sultry and earnest voice-over of Scarlett Johansson, effective screenplay and outstanding direction of Spike Jonze. The details such as the lighting, angles, small details from the pillow after Theodore lies down on the bed for the last time with Samantha. Such memorable lines like: "Sometimes I think I have felt everything I'm ever gonna feel. And from here on out, I'm not gonna feel anything new. Just lesser versions of what I've already felt." from Theodore, "The past is just a story we tell ourselves." from Samantha and "We are only here briefly, and in this moment I want to allow myself joy." from Amy. In this spectacular picture one will definitely be connected either by past experiences, love for technology and friendship. You get a good mix of a sensitive man who needs love and affection, an operating system discovering a whole new world and adapting to human behavior, a divorce, a friends break-up and various relationships.
Definitely one of the best, if not, the best work from Spike Jonze. Movies are great when you react and think about it. After watching this, one would feel various emotions, think provocatively and still left wanting for more. This is how films should be made.
