"What is there to fight for? Life is a beautiful magnificent thing." So many reasons to view this movie, the provocative messages, a pairing with Chaplin and Buster Keaton and a "talkie" for a Chaplin flick. A great comedian named Calvero saves the life of dancer Terry (Claire Bloom). Most probably the best screenplay of Chaplin with lines: "You're alive and you better make the most out of it." "Life is a design not a meaning." "We all make mistakes you know." "Live for the moment." "There's greatness in everyone." "That's the trouble in the world. We all despise ourselves." "Life could be wonderful if you're not afraid of it." "Keep fighting that's all." "Now now, be patient." "God helps those who help themselves." - Calvero (Charles Chaplin). Only minor misgivings were the length of certain scenes that prolong the story. The movie represents so many ideas such as friendship, positivity, reminiscing the past, love, faith, rejection, a declining career/aging, memories and living for the moment.
