Rock of Ages review rockin fun with humor
Daniel Corleone - wrote on 08/22/12

For those who dig 80's rock, humorous musicals while playing satire to boy bands, then this is for your. This reviewer that enjoyed Van Halen, GN'R, Skid Row back in the day, if your into this type of bands, this film's soundtrack will definitely be heaven to your ears. Sherrie (Julianne Hough) travels to LA to become a singer and accidentally meets Drew (Diego Boneta), who dreams of making it big with his band. Dennis (Alec Baldwin), and his right-hand man, Lonny (Russell Brand) try to revive the bar. Stacee Jaxx (Tom Cruise) performs but Patricia Whitmore (Catherine Zeta-Jones) is negative of the rock star's lifestyle. The cheesy simple lines and length killed the fun. On the positives, the rockin sounds, surprisingly good humor, performance of Cruise and humor of Brand made this flick engaging. Seeing Catherine Zeta-Jones in a musical was worthwhile as well. Rock of Ages is a comical rock musical with topics of believing in your passion, righting the wrongs and looking forward while rocking to the tunes of Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses, David Lee Roth, Def Leppard, Journey, Poison, Twisted Sister, and more.
