Donovan Donaly (Geoffrey Rush) discovers his wife having an affair. Rex Rexroth (Edward Herrmann) was caught cheating by a private investigator named Gus Petch (Cedric The Entertainer). Rex asks the assistance of a skilled divorce Lawyer named Miles Massey (George Clooney). Marylin Rexroth (Catherine Zeta-Jones) tries to get back by hiring Freddy Bender (Richard Jenkins). Soundtrack, screenplay and direction was fantastic. Humor was surprisingly good, which is evident by the brothers talented minds. Only reservations this reviewer had were the huge cast while some of the background characters were left of such as Donovan and the career-minded Herb and sometimes cartoonish moments of Wrigley. One of the best quotes: "Life is compromise." "Struggle and challenge and ultimate destruction of your opponent-- that's life." and ""In today's cynical world, it's so hard to take that great leap of faith...aboard the ship of love and caring." Special features were worth viewing as well as the artists and directors give their inputs. Intolerable Cruelty's aim at poking fun at the rich, marriage, love, and greed was executed well.
