Scott Pilgrim vs. The World review

One has to have an open mind in viewing this unique style of directing. This reviewer never expected the style and pace of the film. You have the geeky Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera), the bass guitarist for the band "Sex Bob-omb" who falls for Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) while being in a relationship with Knives Chau (Ellen Wong). Scott is tasked to battle the The League of Evil Exes to continuously date Ramona. The performance of Cera and the cheesy and at times childish screenplay since the buildup between Scott and Ramona's relationship were not enough, which I feel were the weak-points of the film. It's female leads did a good job in their portrayals. The action, effects, visuals and humor were fast paced. Its soundtrack was interesting and themes of self-respect, love and identity were presented. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is a unique comedy fantasy loaded with fight scenes as if you were transported in a video game.
