Toy Story review

Imagine if our cherished toys could have a life of its own, how would it react, move or do? The movie answers this with an adventure a cowboy doll and a space ranger figure. Woody tries his best to misplace Buzz so Andy can get his attention. Unfortunately, Buzz and Woody gets trapped in Sid’s place. They discover that the sadistic boy has a habit of destroying toys. Woody helps out Buzz while both of them try to get back to Andy. Some pleasing quotes: Buzz Lightyear – “I just want you to know that even though you tried to terminate me, revenge is not an idea we promote on my planet.” “To infinity and beyond!” Andy – “You saved the day again, Woody!” Woody - “From now on, you must take good care of your toys, because if you don't, we'll find out, Sid! [While turning head around slowly] “We toys can see EVERYTHING!”

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen did an exceptional job in making the leads so unforgettable and life-like. Its supporting cast did splendidly (Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head, Jim Varney as Slinky Dog, Wallace Shawn as Rex, etc.). The computer graphics was innovative, story heartwarming and hilarious, a catchy musical score that is sprightly and had an effective unique concept. There was no wasted scene and the themes were something we can easily relate to. Some symbolisms include Buzz discovering he is a toy (appreciating your own identity), Woody informing Buzz “that life is worth living” even if he is not a space ranger because of the joy he can bring to children (influencing others by bringing joy/purpose in life), the rescue scene (admitting mistakes/friendship), Sid’s antics (unhappy childhood/hate) and Woody’s reactions over the attention given to Buzz by Andy (jealousy). The impact of the film globally has reached tremendous heights, ranging from numerous awards/nominations, emulating the technology used on the film, sequels, shows, spin offs, software, merchandise and theme parks. People recognize a great film when it becomes the 21st highest grossing film, won an Academy Special Achievement Award and can still be watched repeatedly without getting exhausted. Toy Story is a ground breaking delightful movie started it all for children and kids at heart to cherish.
