World War Z

World War Z UNRATED

Two thing should be stated before I continue with this write up. A) I've never read the novel of which this film is based, so whether it's a good adaptation or not is beyond me, and B) I opted out of seeing the PG13 theatrical release and waited for the UNRATED version that would ultimately come out on Bluray, so I can't discuss how it compares to the more family friendly version. With that said, WORLD WAR Z is an exciting, exhilarating, wonderfully made blast. No more than a few minutes pass before we are thrown into a world of chaos, with intense action sequences, and sustained scenes of seat gripping tension. A sequence near the end had me on the edge so much that it recalled the raptors in the kitchen sequence. It may not reach the poetic, masterful, brilliance of my favorite infected/zombie film 28 DAYS LATER. But when it comes to mainstream action fare, World War Z is a satisfying, breathless, intense experience and one of the biggest surprises of the year. Loved it.
