Superior to 'Plein Soleil', the original filmic adaptation of Highsmith's pulp thriller, 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' is beautifully photographed, superbly acted, tautly written, and viscerally suspenseful. This film is undoubtedly the best Hitchcock film that Hitchcock never made.
