Prizzi's Honor

Disjointed mob movie
Ichabod Crane - wrote on 12/21/09

A rather disjointed crime picture by John Huston that not all that well done. It ends oddly and moves along just as strangely such as the main characters proceed in their relationship at the utmost speed. The film is not all that well developed with little time given to any of the characters aside from Angelica Huston as the black sheep of one mob family. As a comedy there is not much that is all that funny, as a love story there is far too little to it. Huston never finds a way to tells his story in a single compelling fashion. The acting for the most part is unimpressive. Jack Nicholson in particular gives one of his worst performances in a strange misguided attempt to just be funny. It is not a wholly bad film it has its moments, but on a whole it seems like it is a lot less than it should be.
