The Nanny Diaries

Light and Enjoyable

A friend of mine read the book and was disappointed after watching this film. I didn't read the book but I enjoyed it a lot. I guess it's because I finally found a movie where I liked Scartlett Johansson and Chris Evans from beginning to end. Usually, I hate watching them on film because Johansson can get really annoying ("Match Point") and Evans tends to play the same character over and over ("Fantastic Four," "Fierce People,"Sunshine," shall I go on?). But this time, both are really charismatic and I cared about what would happen to them. I bought all the attachments that started and evolved... and some that had to be broken. Laura Linney is always a joy to watch, but I was kind of disappointed with Paul Giamatti. Out of all the characters, he seemed the most one-dimensional. Still, it's a good-looking film with little sprinkles of fantasy. Just don't take it too seriously and you'll have a good time.
