Rory O'Shea Was Here ( Inside I'm Dancing )

A Bit Underdeveloped

I wanted to feel more sentimental for this film but I don't because I felt like I didn't understand the characters enough. But what I do like about it is that it didn't get too weepy. It managed to show the characters as they are without having the audience feel too sorry for them (like "I Am Sam"). James McAvoy did a good job as the lead; he was flawed and annoying at times but you ultimately care for him. Steven Robertson, as Michael Connolly, never ceased to be interesting. I agree with Roger Ebert when he said that, in the beginning of the film, he couldn't understand what Michael was saying but by the end, he could. I felt the same way. Nonetheless, I can't recommend this film to just about anyone. It can be too slow for casual filmgoers and sometimes even too slow for me.
