It was a nice movie... and that's my problem with it. It's just... nice. It didn't provide any heavy emotional impact. I know this is supposed to be your typical romantic comedy sprinkled with a superhero storyline and it's supposed to be bubbly. It's just that even though it tried to do something different by giving its audiences twists (such as making the superhero unlikable), it wasn't deep enough. I say that because I saw social commentaries about gender and identity throughout the film. It could have been another "Chasing Amy" but its ambition was too low. As a result, we get this flimsy movie with somewhat one-dimensional characters. Perhaps in the hands of a better director, this could've been so much more. Still, this film had potential and I did enjoy some scenes, especially whenever Anna Faris was on screen.
