Even contrasted with the childish originality of Toy Story or Monsters Inc or the satirical action of the Incredibles, Up may be Pixar's best film. It's storytelling at its purest and tells a deep tale of growing up and growing old, of longlasting love, of pursuing dreams and chasing goals. It is a great film for kids and adults that doesn't need to be animated to work. Of course, this being Pixar, the animation is vivid and beautiful, creating some of the most lush and colorful landscapes the studio has woven to date. The opening sequences, much talked about, is deserving of all praise.
