I almost liked this film better than its companion film, The Outsiders. It's a gritty and emotionally-moving coming of age story that features believable performances from its fantastic young cast. The film plays out mostly in black and white cinematography, but director Coppola boldly uses bursts of color to accent certain thematic moments.
